About Me...

I started building models as a kid.  My interest in armor and dioramas began the instant I saw Shep Paine's diorama tips for the Monogram Grant!  I quickly built the tank and made a "diorama" from my Mom's wash tub, some grass from the lawn, and a margarine container.

Life (and girls) got in the way for a while until I ventured into Larry's Hobbies (In Houston).  I was amazed to see many of the old kits as well as a few new ones.  I bought Shep Paine's books on dioramas and military vehicles. and never looked back.

I came across Fine Scale Modeling in 1988 and discovered contests.  My first contest was in 1988 and I brought my first diorama (A Tiger1 towing a truck out of the mud).  It was, admittedly, pretty bad but I was encouraged by the comments and tips from veteran modelers.  The next stop was a local contest in Houston the same year.  I entered a few items and placed in the figure category for my 1/25th scale Rommel figure.

In 1990 I joined IPMS Houston where I met some very good friends and really learned a lot!  I was the only armor builder when I joined but Joe Porter and Jon Baker soon filled the ranks.  After Joe Porter became president, we grew to over 100 members (from about 30).  About this time I lost everything I owned in an apartment fire and moved to Huntsville, TX to finish school.  I tried to keep current and even finished a few models in the dorm.

After school I moved back to Ohio and joined John Glenn IPMS.  I try to attend local shows when possible and have even targeted a few national events this year.

Well, that's my story and this is my page.  I hope you enjoy it!
