Cri.El's
Trattore TL37 (Available from R&J
Enterprises).
This is an all resin kit cast from a very hard and brittle resin so be careful when removing parts from the casting block. I noticed some marks in the resin so I suggest taking the time to sand down the areas that you can reach with fine grit paper. The grab handles by each door were very fragile so I decided to replace them with Mini Mecca fine wire. I carefully drilled two holes in the door panel and inserted the bent wire. A dab of red spot putty thinned with liquid cement helped fill the gap. The other area needing attention was the luggage rack on the back deck. The kit part was cast well but fragile so I decided to replace it with a new one. I drilled holes around the back deck and inserted brass rod. I used a caliper to measure them. Annealing a few brass rods made them more flexible and I was able to bend them around the previously inserted rods. I soldiered them in place and worked the entire top run first. The cover bar was also made from brass and detailed with Plastruct. I had trouble with the windshield so I built a new one from evergreen strips and clear acetate. Knobs and bolts were made using a punch and die. For construction photos please scroll down.
